Velux kli310 remote

Factory paired remote controls for shades are included in all Skylight Systems for easy set-up and operation. Electric and solar venting Skylight Systems also include remotes pre-paired to open and close the skylights.

How do I know what skylight size I need?

Your skylight installer will help you determine what size skylights will best fit your home. The industry standard for a new, in-home skylight is typically 5% of the floor space in rooms with a lot of windows already and 15% of the floor space in rooms without much natural light. These ratios help keep your space as energy efficient as possible while enabling you to enjoy the sunshine and fresh air that skylights offer.

How much light will a skylight add to a room?

The biggest difference is in the quality of light. Light from a skylight brings the light down from the ceiling, lighting up all corners of the room evenly. A window can cause “shadows” in your room, but a skylight does not because the light is coming from overhead.

Do I need a Fresh Air skylight?

Venting skylights work best in sun heated rooms, bathrooms, kitchens, rooms with high cathedral ceilings, or rooms without any other ventilation. Natural ventilation does not add to your electrical bill, like an exhaust fan would, and can reduce your cooling utility bill. Learn more about venting skylights here.

How long does it take to install a skylight?

We typically figure one day per skylight for the installation. If we are installing more than one in a vaulted ceiling, we may put enough workmen on the job to do all in one day. After the installation, the drywaller will come in. He typically does not need an entire day to do his job.

Do I need to be home while the installation is being done?

Typically you will need to be home to let us in and to be available during the layout of the skylight opening in the ceiling. After that, you will be free to come and go at will.

Where is the serial number on my skylight?
Velux serial loccations.

Every VELUX skylight and roof window features a data plate mounted on the frame or stamped into the side of the exterior covers. This dataplate contains the product serial number, which tells the skylight model, glass type and date of manufacture.
When ordering accessories for existing products or requesting product servicing, you should locate this number prior to contacting us. Doing so will help us provide you with the best service possible.

Does VELUX make custom sized skylights?

VELUX can make some custom sized skylights that vary from the standard sizes. We can also make many custom sizes for the FCM curb mounted skylight.

Can I apply a film to the glass to decrease heat and light?

VELUX does not recommend the addition of any store-bought film to the glass of our skylights. The addition of store-bought film or tint will void the warranty on the glass. However, our glass is manufactured with a Low-E coating and injected with Argon gas that make our skylights very energy efficient. In addition, we also offer several sunscreening options that can be added to our skylights and roof windows to regulate light and heat.
